Welcome to the CADA & BAU 3-Week Game Art Course, a collaboration between Copenhagen Academy of Digital Arts and Istanbul-based Bahçeşehir University.

This intensive program offers aspiring game artists, particularly intermediate-level game design students familiar with Unreal Engine, a unique opportunity to develop their skills and create an animated project using Unreal Engine 5.

In this summer course you will…

Learn the ideas, processes, and skills needed to design and make an animated project in Unreal Engine 5.
Be guided through the following stages of creating an animated project:
- Ideation of an animated project
- Storyboard creation
- Resource/asset gathering
- Scene creation
- Light setup
- Implementing animations with UE sequencer
Be encouraged to develop your own ideas.
Learn professional animation principles, including:
- Animation import
- Using 3D models and lighting to dress up your scene
- Rendering from Unreal Engine 5
Finally, learn how to export your output to proudly showcase on your portfolio.

Our instructors bring a wealth of experience and knowledge from both CADA and BAU. They have expertise in game art, animation principles, and working with Unreal Engine. You will benefit from their guidance and mentorship throughout the course.

Course structure and content

Week 1 in Istanbul at BAU

You will be introduced to Unreal Engine workflow and fundamentals to create your scene for the animation project. This will include ideation and storyboard creation, blocking out your scene and asset implementation. Alongside this you will be participate in various workshops processes, which begin to develop your confidence in getting an animated output with Unreal Engine 5
Week 2 in Copenhagen at CADA

You will continue to explore the animation implementation processes that enable you to design your projects. This will take place alongside workshops which will include, scene dressing, lighting and implementation of animations and working with the sequencer within Unreal Engine 5
Week 3 in Copenhagen at CADA

Using the skills you have learnt you will finalize your projects with support from tutors. Also, this week will focus on getting your output from Unreal Engine 5 to framestack and final film-output. The final short films from each student will be celebrated through an exhibition. Your work should be of a standard to add your professional portfolio.

The week culminates in the presentation of your short films and feedback sessions.

Field Trip to Gaming Studios

In the last day of the summer course we will make a field trip to well known gaming studios in Copenhagen!
The studios will give you presentations about the gaming industry. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about everything from the production process of games to the recruiting process in these studios.
