Why CADA's Education Matters More Than Ever in the Age of AI

Why CADA's Education Matters More Than Ever in the Age of AI

Let’s be honest. AI is changing everything, especially in the world of digital art. It can generate concept art in seconds, clean up animations, even build 3D models with a few lines of text. So it’s fair to ask: Does going to school to become a 3D artist still make sense?

At Copenhagen Academy of Digital Arts, we say: absolutely yes. In fact, we think a solid 3D education matters more than ever.

Here’s why, and how we’re making sure our students are ready for the future (AI included).

1. Teaching AI the Right Way

AI, or machine learning, as it's often called in digital production, is the new buzzword. Like all emerging technologies, it brings excitement, misunderstandings, unrealistic expectations, and enormous potential. In this text, we outline our approach to teaching AI toolsets and how they fit into the digital artist’s workflow.

In the world of digital art, new technologies and the disruptions they bring are nothing new. Innovation, exploration, and adaptation have always driven artistic progress; shaping new tools, techniques, and forms of expression. In this sense, AI is no different. It is a powerful tool that can act as both a creative and technical enabler.

We approach AI as just one component in a larger production pipeline. Something to be integrated, not isolated. Our goal is to empower students to combine AI with existing artistic and technical skills through smart, meaningful workflows.

  • We don’t focus on simply prompting images in generative tools.
  • Instead, students learn to build robust production pipelines where AI supports and enhances industry-standard software like Maya, Unreal Engine, Houdini, and ZBrush.
  • AI is used to:
    Accelerate concept and render iterations
    Support animation workflows
    Enhance procedural effects and simulations
  • Students learn how to blend AI outputs with traditional techniques, refine results, and make informed artistic choices along the way.

By treating AI as an integrated part of the creative process, not a replacement, we prepare students to thrive in hybrid, forward-thinking production environments.

2. It’s easy to create now, but hard to create well

AI has made it easier than ever to generate content. But here’s the thing: the internet is already full of bland, rushed, and forgettable work. What stands out now isn’t quantity. It’s taste, originality, and storytelling.

That’s where we come in.

Our students learn how to look at creative work with a critical eye. They learn how to spot what’s working, what’s not, and most importantly, how to make it better. That kind of editorial judgment? AI can’t do that. But great artists can. And we’re here to help you become one of them.

3. People still hire people, not just portfolios

Let’s not forget: this is still a people industry.

Games, Animations, VFX, they all rely on teams of real humans who know how to collaborate, communicate, and bring big ideas to life together. At CADA, we don’t just teach you software. We throw you into team projects, give you feedback (the honest kind), and help you grow into someone others want to work with.

You’ll learn how to take critique, pitch your ideas, and navigate creative disagreements. Those soft skills? They matter just as much as technical ones, and they last a lifetime.

4. Your network is part of your education

You can learn a lot online these days. No doubt. But what you can’t get from YouTube tutorials is a real creative community.

At CADA, you’ll work alongside other ambitious students. You’ll meet mentors from the industry. You’ll build connections that might lead to internships, job offers, or even future studios of your own.

We believe in learning by doing, and learning with others. It’s what makes our in-person education experience so powerful.

5. Creativity still wins

Here’s the bottom line: AI can remix what already exists. But it can’t dream up new worlds, characters, or stories that actually mean something. That’s your job.

And that’s the part of the work that’s only becoming more valuable.

We help students develop their voice, take risks, and create work that’s personal, expressive, and real. Because in a world full of shortcuts, originality is your biggest strength.

6. Structure beats chaos

We’ve all been there: jumping from one tutorial to the next, not really sure if we’re improving or just going in circles.

That’s why we’ve built a 3.5-year program designed to guide you step by step. You’ll move from the basics to advanced techniques, all while building a professional portfolio and learning how the industry really works.

We take the guesswork out of learning, so you can focus on growing.

AI doesn’t replace artists, it challenges them

At CADA, we’re not scared of AI. We’re excited about it. But we also know it changes the game. And we want our students to be ready – not just to keep up, but to lead.

If you want to learn the tools and the thinking behind great 3D work…
If you want to use AI without letting it take over your creativity…
If you want to work with people who push you to do your best work…

You’ll fit right in.

Feel free to book a 1:1 session with our student counselor. We’d love to hear about your goals and help you map out your artistic journey.
